Peter Boyce and William Boyce are proud to announce the addition of Gower & Company to Williams-Boyce Agency, LLP. Gower & Company was started by Richard Gower in 1970 and has been led by Richard and Todd Gower for many years. Both Richard and Todd will be “Joining Forces” with Williams-Boyce Agency in order to perpetuate the long-term reputations for teamwork and detailed customer service of both Williams-Boyce Agency and Gower & Company.

Williams-Boyce Agency was established in 1904 and is the oldest Independent Insurance Agency in the Texas Panhandle. Gower and Company was established in 1970 by Richard Gower. By “Joining Forces” with Williams-Boyce Agency, the combined total years of both independent insurance agencies is an amazing 170 years, which is older than the City of Amarillo.

Williams-Boyce Agency looks forward to having the knowledge and expertise of both Richard and Todd Gower. According to Peter Boyce: “We respect the way the Gowers do business and we look forward to their continued positive contribution to the Amarillo community!”

Richard Gower

Richard Gower, a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), began his insurance career, in December 1958, as a Special Agent for The Crum & Forster Insurance Company, of Morristown, New Jersey. He, first, served his new company, for three years, in the Texas Panhandle. In 1961, Richard was transferred to El Paso, Texas, where he was named Manager of his Company’s Branch Office. After serving three years in El Paso, Richard wanted to return to his hometown. Therefore, Richard and his young family returned to Amarillo in 1964 where he joined the Thomson King Insurance Agency as a Partner. In 1970, Richard established Gower and Company and has been located in the same Downtown Amarillo location since the agency started. Richard is a graduate of Amarillo High School and West Texas A&M University. His wife of 67 years, Lloyd Dean Gower, passed away in May of 2020. Richard is proud of his family and he has 2 Children, 3 Grandchildren, and 3 Great Grandchildren

Richard is a two-time Past President of the Independent Insurance Agents of the Panhandle (IIAP). He also served as a Regional Chairman for The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT). In addition, Richard was selected as Boss of the Year by the Insurance Women of Amarillo. Furthermore, Richard has a long association with the Amarillo West Rotary Club and has previously served as the Club President. He was recently recognized for having achieved 54 years of perfect attendance.

Richard is a member of Saint Paul Methodist Church and has served his Church in various capacities, which include serving as a member of their Board of Trustees. In addition, he currently serves on the Amarillo Wesley Community Center Foundation Board. Richard is a proud United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War and holds an Honorable Discharge. Richard was a Youth Baseball Coach for 14 years having loved his players and for the time he spent serving his teams, with Kids, Inc., the YMCA, and The American Legion Youth Baseball.

Todd Gower

Todd Gower

Todd Gower, a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and a Certified Risk Manager (CRM), grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1980 and then graduated from Texas A&M University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Todd is an accomplished athlete and played Varsity Baseball at both Amarillo High School and Texas A&M.  Todd is a proud father of two sons, age 31 and age 26.

Todd is an Eagle Scout, earning this honored designation while a member of Boy Scout Troop 80 of Amarillo, Texas. Also, Todd was honored by The Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame, in 1980, as their Baseball “Player of the year”!  

After graduation from Texas A&M University, Todd began his insurance career working along with his father at Gower and Company in Amarillo, Texas. In the 37 years he has been an Independent Insurance Agent, Todd has been very active in many business and civic organizations including: the United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Texas Panhandle, the Amarillo Wesley Community Center, the Llano Cemetery Association, the Independent Insurance Agents of the Texas Panhandle (IIAP), the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT), and the Better Business Bureau of the Texas Panhandle. Todd is a proud graduate of Leadership Amarillo & Canyon.

Todd has served as the Chair of the Better Business Bureau, the President of the Independent Insurance Agents of the Texas Panhandle (IIAP), a committee member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT), and the President of Llano Cemetery Association.  He is a member of Trinity Fellowship Church.

Todd currently plays Third base for a softball team in the Amarillo Senior Softball Association League and he is the Crew Chief of his Son’s Limited Late Model race car at the Route 66 Speedway.

Sam Boyce

Sam M. Boyce

Sam was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas and graduated from Tascosa High School in 2011. Sam attended from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in 2015. After beginning his career at Attebury Grain, LLC in Amarillo, Sam received the opportunity to move back to Austin, Texas and work for YETI Coolers, LLC. Sam worked for YETI for three years and helped YETI grow into a publicly-traded company. Sam then moved to Dallas, Texas in 2019 to attend the full-time Masters of Business Administration program at Southern Methodist University. While attending graduate school, Sam interned for over a year with DalFort Capital Partners, LLC, a private investment firm headquarted in Dallas. After graduating with honors in Finance and Accounting at SMU in 2021, Sam entered the insurance industry at Ben Spurgin Insurance Agency, a reputable independent insurance agency located in Dallas. In 2023, Sam returned to Amarillo to join Williams-Boyce Agency, LLP.

Sam is excited to be back in Amarillo and get involved with the Amarillo and surrounding communities. Sam likes to remain active by playing tennis and golf, and he can be seen around with his companionable Irish Terrier, Ava.
